Orient Processors has a well-defined CSR strategy in place for the upliftment of the people of the North Eastern region and is involved in a number of ongoing activities for community welfare. Many of these programs are aimed towards building a sustainable livelihood program for the weavers. Orient Processors is actively engaged in reforestation program as a way to preserve the green cover and reduce carbon dioxide footprint. The Orient Processors team regularly visits rural areas throughout the region to teach the weavers better weaving practices and the ways and means to improve their productivity.
The company has set up a Manik Chandra Buragohain Memorial Trust in memory of the Founder’s Late Father. The trust is actively engaged in providing scholarships to meritorious students from economically disadvantaged sections of the society. The company has also built a Namghar (Community Prayer Hall) at the founders native village in the District of Sivasagar, Assam.
The Founder, in memory of his late father constructed a gate in the school where his father had worked as a teacher.
Orient Processors built an open air stage for Tai Kristi Bikash Kendra, a socio-cultural organization at Bothaghuli, Panjabari in Guwahati. Realizing the importance of infrastructure, Orient Processors donated an amount of Rs. 300000 to the Federation of Industries and Commerce for North Eastern Region (FINER) for construction of the FINER building.
Orient Processors regularly organizes health checkup camps in several places through out the region. The health check-up camps offer free diagnosis and treatment to children, women and aged without discrimination. They also conduct awareness programs in the rural areas to teach people about the importance of sanitation, hygiene and good diet.
Orient Processors has put aside a special fund for the children of the employees who have passed out from 10th and 12th standards. These funds help the children get admission to college.
